from the beltway to 32. to and from cecil county, so far so good. take this as your alternate to westbound rte. 40. you can see here at the haten memorial bridge, all westbound lanes remain closed. that is the very latest on traffic pulse 11. >> our big story this morning as he travels through northeast baltimore, two water main breaks has two roads impassible this morning. >> they are hoping the one on cold spring will be fixed in the next couple of days but this one on new york road could be trickier. we have been watching a bulldozer go deep into a hole pulling out concrete and dirt -- the first one broke on cold spring lane early during the

morning rush. just about 1 mile and a half away where we are in the 4600 block of york road, this one broke. they're saying it has nothing to do with the hurricane, but the culprit is old age. >> it is one of the things that happens with old infrastructure. we cannot predict when it will happen. >> the good news is the one on cold spring not affecting water for any residents. a day care had to be evacuated because of water damage. right now officials are not sure when this will be fixed. that work is actively going on right now. cars are passing by. it is not a complete shutdown. it is inconvenient as drivers tried to negotiate their way around the area. >> after four and a half days of

around-the-clock efforts, crews are in the home stretch when it comes to restoring power. a little more than 3000 customers remained in the dark. bge has reconnected homes affected by the storm. the numbers -- the number of deaths attributed to sandy has risen. thursday martin o'malley observed conditions in garrett county. state emergency officials have moved their headquarters to western maryland. >> state republican leaders accused the state of placing the blame for pollution on the wrong people. a gathering at the dam, ej pipkin said the majority of the

employees, the crews are being turned away. they have now moved up to new york. a benefit telethon will be tonight at 8:00 hosted by matt lauer and carried by all of the networks of nbc universal. money collected will be donated to the american red cross. again, the hourlong telethon will be tonight at 8:00 on wbal tv 11. >> in this morning's project economy report, you may have heard it takes a job to get the job. that may be true for the man hoping their next job will be president of the united states. we are joined live with a story. any expectation of what the numbers might show? >> we are hearing predictions

from economists that the unemployment rate will go up just a little bit, not above 8%, though. this comes as both candidates are on the trail working overtime on the final weekend of campaigning. >> do you want four more years where 23 million americans are struggling to have a good job? >> our work is not done as long as there is a single american who wants a job and cannot find one. >> even though many people will watch to see how both candidates reacted today's snapshot of the economy, some say you should look at the big picture over all -- the trend of the rate over several months. these polls show a vast majority of candidates are already locked into a candidate. if the unemployment rate rises above 8% -- >> it reinforces everything the romney campaign has been saying. barack obama oppose the plan is

there is a school closure in the city. you can get all the information on our web site wbaltv.com. nothing to talk about going into the weekend weather wise. no big storms on the horizon or anything. there is one little disturbance in the upper levels of the atmosphere across the ohio valley. that will visit us this morning. you can barely see it on the satellite. if you look close you can see a rotation in the clouds. the clouds are starting to thicken up as the disturbance comes across the mountains. it is starting to produce sprinkles and snow flurries out in the higher elevations. as we drift over towards baltimore, a 20% chance of a sprinkle passing by. you do not have to take an umbrella with you. it will not effect the traffic. it will really enforce -- is cold air from canada will roll across the region and keep the temperature below average.

we will be stuck in the 50's today. 42 degrees at the airport and 41 degrees rising sun. a slight chance for a -- the sky will clear tonight and it will be called when you wake up and enter the morning. down to maybe 32 in the colder northwest suburbs. it was a 41 in the city. daylight savings time comes to an end this weekend. the sun will be setting around 5:00. before you go to bed saturday night, set your clocks back one hour. 55 on sunday. i think most of the election they will be dry. there will be another storm coming up the coast that will give us a chance for rain tuesday night and wednesday next week. there might even be a little snow mixed in. the high-temperature only 48.

6:15, what is happening on the roads? >> a few water main break closures to talk about. york road at cold spring. and also cold spring near hartford. a live picture of the work as they continue the process to repair the water main break and enter the area of cold spring and york. this is was down 40 at the haten memorial bridge. traffic being diverted down to 95. you can take 95 to avoid it altogether. watch for construction at look- ins avenue. the outer loop is in great shape. no problems on the outer loop other than building volume. six minutes on southbound 95 from the 895 split to fort mchenry. you can see, this is a good way to go.

you want to avoid rte. 40 and stay away from memorial bridge because this is what the closure looks like right at the haten memorial bridge. that is the latest. >> taking a look at some of the top stories. two former penn state university officials face an arraignment on criminal charges in connection with the jerry sandusky child sex abuse scandal. they already face several charges. on thursday, the attorney general it one more on them -- a child endangerment charge. the pair will fully looked the other way when presented with accusations of the abuse. a new death brings the number of deaths in the meningitis outbreak to 29. they are recalling all of their products. ameridose says they have not received any reports of illness, but they are taking a

precautionary step. there is some good news for the shooting victims of the movie theater massacre in colorado. it will not be on the hook for their medical bills. the university of colorado hospital has reached an agreement to waive all fees. 12 people were killed in the shooting. >> in this morning's consumer alert, under armor is setting up shop along the south president street. consumers can expect cutting edge technology along with clothing, footwear, and accessories. the store is expected to open in february. a lot of people is -- a lot of people will soon start their holiday shopping, but does that does not mean the stores will be busier. sometimes the biggest competition is the store online. stores are stocking up to make sure shoppers that do come and

watching a bulldozer continually go into the hole pulling out more dirt. having been at these scenes a number of time, a more positive sign would be cruise and the whole replacing the pipe itself. they are still trying to get to the pipe and remove the dirt and concrete in there so they can really assess the situation. there is no word on when the water main break here on york road will be fixed. >> knew this morning, baltimore city police are looking for a missing man, ronald brown was last seen on the 2900 block of rogers avenue. he left his some driving a blue 2012 sonata. he is 5 foot 6 and weighs 145 pounds and suffers from dementia. he was last seen a wearing a yellow jacket and green pants

and is missing his two front teeth. if you see him you are asked to call 911. federal services will be held today for alonzo gladen. he was helping his younger brother unload groceries when two men approached and opened fire. police are still looking for the suspects. the funeral begins at 11:00 this morning. >> city police look for the man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl inside of a south baltimore store. this happened on october 21-was waiting in line with a family member. they say this picture was obtained from a surveillance camera inside the store. >> some of the employees at the store did attempt to detain the suspect after the incident. the suspect did leave it. >> the suspect is described as hispanic, 5 1/6 with a medium

build. he also has two gold teeth with a letter "j" on one of them. anyone who has seen him is urged to call the baltimore city police. >> of baltimore city police officer faces eight criminal counts with alleged corruption in the department. he is also accused of obstructing justice and attempting to influence a witness by corrupt means. the department will not tolerate criminal wrongdoing or corruption among the ranks. city homicide detectives make an arrest with connection -- he is arrested in connection to the killing of michael allen. he was taken to the hospital where he later died.

big story. a pair of water brian -- water main breaks is causing headaches for commuters. >> we are here on the 4600 block of york road. when you see chunks of asphalt on the roadway, not a good thing. these happened about six or seven hours a part. they are about 1 mile and a half a part. public-works crews busy in the 1800 block of east cold spring lane. hours later about 1 mile and a half away, this one on the 4600 block of york road. officials say both are unrelated. they also say they had nothing to do with the hurricane. they said it all happen to do -- it all happened because of old age. crews are at work. we have seen them working with a bulldozer digging up the roadway.
